What To Do If You’re Missing Teeth

What To Do If You’re Missing Teeth

Whether you’re missing one tooth or several, not having all your teeth can be uncomfortable and embarrassing. At Cornerstone Family Dentistry, we believe everyone deserves to have a happy and confident smile. Fortunately, you don’t have to suffer from missing teeth. Here are three different services we can provide to help you have the smile you want and deserve.

Bridges

A dental bridge is a false tooth that is held in place by the natural teeth on either side of the false tooth. The false tooth or teeth are held in place by dental crowns that are cemented onto the two anchored teeth, creating a “bridge” between the gap in your mouth. While this treatment will take several visits to the dentist, it is a fairly simple procedure and once it’s done, dental bridges can last more than 10 years. It’s important to maintain healthy oral hygiene by brushing at least twice a day and flossing once a day to prevent cavities forming in the crowned teeth, which can shorten the life of your bridge.

Dentures

Dentures are replacement teeth that can be taken out and put back in. If you are missing multiple teeth, often have loose or shifting teeth, or are experiencing severe toothaches and have been told by a dentist that a root canal won’t be able to help, dentures may be the right option for you. Custom-made to perfectly fit your mouth, we can provide dentures for you that look natural and help you eat more comfortably and smile with confidence.

Implants

A dental implant is typically the best treatment when you’re only missing one or two teeth. As opposed to bridges that are cemented onto your teeth, implants are replacement teeth that are surgically implanted into the jawbone. While implants require a longer treatment process, with good dental hygiene, dental implants can last for twenty years or more and they are the closest thing to a natural tooth.

Whether it’s bridges, dentures, or implants, we would love to help you have a beautiful and comfortable smile that you love. Please make an appointment with us today to discuss your options!
