Tooth Extraction
Your original teeth were created for biting, chewing, and providing your mouth and jawbone with structure. For this reason, Dr. Wilson’s first priority is to help restore, save, and repair your original teeth. However, despite our best efforts to save a tooth, sometimes a tooth extraction is the only solution. The Cornerstone Family Dentistry team will make sure you’re comfortable before, during, and after your extraction procedure. This includes walking you through every step of the tooth extraction, as well as the use of local anesthetics.

There are several reasons why a tooth extraction may be needed. A very common reason involves a tooth that is too badly damaged from trauma, tooth decay, gum disease, or badly cracked or broken. A tooth might also need to be extracted in order to make room for other permanent teeth. This is common among children who are still receiving their permanent, adult teeth.
Making our patients comfortable is extremely important to us. Before pulling the tooth, Dr. Wilson will give you an injection of a local anesthetic to numb the area where the tooth will be removed. This will reduce your discomfort during the procedure.
After you have a tooth pulled, your mouth will likely experience some minor changes. Dr. Wilson and the Cornerstone team will give you instructions to follow after the extraction, and it’s important to talk to the team about any questions or problems you may have.
If you’ve had a tooth extracted, there are several options we can provide to fill the empty space or replace the tooth. We offer patients the opportunity to receive dental implants, partial dentures, implant retained dentures, traditional dentures, and dental bridges.
