It’s February and love is in the air!  In honor of Valentine’s Day, we would like to tell you about six dental care products that we love.

1. Sonicare Toothbrush –

This toothbrush is more costly than any manual toothbrush you’ll purchase, but we think it’s a worthwhile investment.  We love this toothbrush for many reasons, one being the way it brushes.  The smooth vibration easily and effectively loosens debris and hard-to-reach areas around your teeth and makes you feel like you’ve been to the dentist to get a routine dental cleaning every time you use it.  This toothbrush also comes with an assortment of cool features, including a built-in timer that automatically turns the toothbrush off when you’ve brushed for two minutes, and a light that flashes when you’re brushing too hard.  Conveniently, this toothbrush comes with a variety of toothbrush heads to meet individual needs, such as brushes for smaller mouths, larger mouths, braces, etc.  In addition to the features and the efficient way it brushes your teeth, this Sonicare toothbrush even comes with an app for your phone that will help you monitor, improve, and maximize the way you brush your teeth.

2. Cordless Waterpik –

Some people prefer waterpiks over regular string floss because waterpiks are often considered more comfortable and effective.  Using a combination of water pressure and pulsations, the waterpik washes away germs in between your teeth that your toothbrush can’t reach.  Using a waterpik over dental floss is especially convenient for people with braces, implants, or other dental work.  We like the convenience of the cordless waterpik and because the shower is a great place to get in the habit of using your waterpik.

3. Floss –

If a waterpik isn’t for you, let’s talk about a dental floss brand we love.  Cocofloss dental floss uses a unique textured string that makes flossing more effective and comfortable, and it’s also infused with coconut and fruit oil that helps soothe your gums and leaves your mouth feeling clean.

4. SleepRight Custom Dental Guard –

If we have recently determined that you are suffering from nighttime teeth grinding, we recommend the SleepRight Dental Guard.  While a more long-term solution will likely be to get fitted for a pricier night guard, using this more affordable over-the-counter night guard is a helpful first step.  Dental guards will not only give you relief from jaw pain, but it will also greatly protect your teeth from the damage that nighttime teeth grinding can cause.

5. Chapstick with SPF –

You are probably well aware of the dangers of not using sunscreen on your face and body while out in the sun, but don’t forget your lips need the same kind of care!  We recommend using lip balms with SPF 30 or higher, such as Sun Bum Lip Balm or Aquaphor Lip Protectant & Ointment.  Using these lip balms on a regular basis will keep your lips protected from the sun and help prevent cancer of the lips.

6. Clinpro Toothpaste –

This specially formulated toothpaste is for patients who have issues with sensitivity or frequent cavities, as well as for orthodontic patients.  In addition to fluoride, this toothpaste contains a special formula containing calcium and phosphate, which react with the fluoride to help strengthen the enamel on your teeth.  This toothpaste isn’t over the counter, so talk to us about whether or not you may need a prescription for this specialized toothpaste.
